Last week I attended the CDT conference
(as it was called on the mailing list for a while - the eventual
name was a more modest 'CDT contributors summit') in Ottawa.
After that I had a day off and went to the National Art Gallery, which I
liked very much. It is a beautiful and interesting building with some
really nice places inside (and luckily it was a bright, sunny day which
completed the good impression). The funny thing, of course, is that
what I was interested in was mostly old European art. I was fascinated
by two of the Monets (Rain, and Waterloo bridge); and I
liked some of the Flemish paintings and also the Poussin (Paysage
avec une femme se lavant les pieds), and one or two of the French
and English portraits.
